Another day, another Paint-Out
MAG members Rob Burkhard, Mary Ellen Semat and myself took advantage of the glorious spring weather to “paint out” at the Manassas train station. On the left, that’s Rob and Mary Ellen (I’ll let you guess which is which) hard at work, and on the right, Rob applies oil paint to his board with a palette knife. Scritch, scritch…. we all agreed that was a beautiful sound.
After we got rid of that pesky Rob, Mary Ellen and I tried to cram in one more painting each before we had to get back to our less glamorous lives. Below, that’s Mary Ellen packing up to leave on the left, and on the right a shot of my big accomplishment for the day…. a little 2×3″ half-finished painting of Foster’s Grille. That’s three unfinished paintings for me in two days! — michele frantz

Thanks Rob. More likely it won’t be ready until the train festival, you know me, always thinking WAY in advance….. by the way, you’ll have to show me how to add a link to my comment like yours. I luv links…… mich

Lets do that again! It is such fun to paint with other artists. I’m hard at work on my train station. It has to be finished by Friday so I’ll put up something when I get a little further on it. Michelle, thankyou for setting that up and getting the message out. I love your train too. Especially the windows.

Mary Ellen,
I upgraded you to an Author so you can post as well as comment. Over the month of May there are several of us who plan on being out and about Manassas and surrounding areas. We will add you to the email group for opportunites to work with other artist en plein air.

Rob,
Thanks, I appreciate that upgrade. I’ll be looking forward to doing some more “field trips”. I’m still working on the pictures I started this week. My portfolio for class is due Friday so I’ll surely have something by then. I’m hoping I can stop by Saturday and see the work downtown.
